MY TIME AS MISS MAINE
Becoming Miss Maine 2022 was a childhood dream come true! I grew up watching national pageants on TV in awe of the colorful gowns. As I got older, I discovered pageants were more than just pretty dresses -they're organizations that recognize some of the country's most intelligent, confident, accomplished, and determined women. Who would've thought that just a handful of years later I would become one of the girls I looked up to?
As a state titleholder, I dedicated my year towards efforts combatting gender inequality in STEM. As an aspiring healthcare professional, I recognized the lack of female teen role models involved in STEM on a nationwide level. I took it upon myself to fulfill this role. A week after gaining my title, I started my own podcast called BRAVE x EMPOWER where I hosted episodes with guest speakers of all ages and backgrounds to discuss gender inequality in STEM. This has since turned into its own nonprofit social initiative where I create and host events for young children to get involved in STEM.
